Prepare for the European Health Data Space at HIMSS23 Europe

European Union lawmakers will review draft proposals for a regulation on the European Health Data Space and healthcare leaders attending the 2023 HIMSS European Health Conference & Exhibition will gear up for the coming impacts. 

HIMSS23 Europe, slated for 7-9 June in Lisbon, Portugal, serves as a focal point for pan-European collaboration for the EHDS, and other initiatives such as Gravitate Health and Label2Enable. 

Registration for HIMSS23 Europe is open, with flexible options for healthcare professionals. 

The EHDS — viewed as one of the EU’s most ambitious projects to date — will change the healthcare landscape of Europe. It is a health-specific ecosystem, according to the European Commission, of rules, common standards and practices, infrastructures and a governance framework. 

“The EHDS legislation represents a major step towards freeing data for use, but we need to work on building trust among patients,” said Petra Wilson, senior advisor, European Health Policy & EU Affairs, HIMSS. “They need to be assured that their interests are properly respected, and we also need to build confidence among academic and industry researchers that the system will run smoothly and can be trusted.”

European Health Data Space - The Way Forward, 9 June 

This session will provide an important progress update on the EHDS - what it is, what it’s not and the potential benefits for patients and society. The EDAH project will present an overview of their work on this important topic.

An interactive workshop open to all which will address latest developments in EHDS regulatory landscapes, the use of health data for research, innovation and policy making, and how citizens can be empowered by easier access to their health data.
