Welcome! We are glad that you have chosen to volunteer with the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS), National Capital Area (NCA) chapter. The NCA Chapter is the only federally-focused chapter nationwide of HIMSS. We are federally-focused on areas of interest and relevance for our membership, primarily understanding policy, regulation, health care delivery trends, and the applicability of health IT-related tools.
We are eager to get to know you, and look forward to working with you toward our mission; to promote professional approaches to the development, operation, and improvement of healthcare information management systems that benefit the Federal, State, and local community. Our members represent hospitals, managed care organizations, integrated delivery systems, non-profit healthcare organizations, as well as government agencies such as the Military Health System, Department of Veterans Affairs, and multiple operating divisions within the Department of Health & Human Services including many others departments/programs focused on Federal Health IT. We take pride in bringing powerful monthly educational Federal healthcare related programs and networking events that provide professional development to our members. It is the intent of the NCA Chapter to connect and collaborate with the NCA members and other associations within our region to provide the latest HIT information, discussion and events. As a volunteer, you will have a variety of opportunities to contribute toward efforts that drive health information technology innovation.
There are several activities in which you may be interested. Our events include educational programs, conference participation, mentorship activities, and social gatherings. Attached below is a questionnaire for us to learn more about you and to determine how your interests align with current volunteer opportunities. Following the submission of your questionnaire we will contact you to discuss next steps.
